The Farm Margaret River is pleased to begin a collaborative partnership with the Forrest Research Foundation, welcoming Forrest Fellows to spend time in residence at The Farm.
The Forrest Research Foundation supports outstanding early-career researchers from around the world to undertake innovative and impactful research across disciplines in Western Australia. Bringing together scientists, researchers and creative practitioners, the Foundation fosters curiosity, collaboration and intellectual exchange in pursuit of research that can make a meaningful contribution to society.
This collaboration offers Fellows the opportunity to step outside their academic environments and spend time immersed in the unique environment of The Farm located on Wadandi Country in the south west of Western Australia. Through this partnership, The Farm is interested in the intersections between science, art and environment. Fellows are invited to engage with the ecological, agricultural and cultural context of the site, using their time on the land as an opportunity for creative reset, research reflection and the development of new ideas.
In return, artists undertaking The Farm’s Artist in Residence program will have opportunities to engage with the Forrest Research Foundation community in Perth through time at Forrest Hall, connecting with researchers and scholars working across a wide range of disciplines.
The collaboration reflects a shared belief that meaningful insight often emerges at the intersection of disciplines, and that time spent in place can deepen both creative and scientific understanding of the world around us.
The first Fellow to participate in the program at The Farm will be Dr Cassandra Tytler, a Forrest Research Foundation alumna and video artist based at Edith Cowan University.
